Example of Interval Hypoxic Training (IHT)
Here is a typical 6-week schedule building up to high altitude during IHT. Perform IHT with a mask that delivers low-oxygen air generated by the Mountain
Air Generator. Hold the mask by hand, and use a watch or other timer to execute the intervals. For example, to perform 5 minutes on, 5 minutes off, hold
the mask to your face for 5 minutes, and remove the mask for 5 minutes. During the hypoxic interval, remove the mask briefly if your blood oxygen
saturation gets below the target range.
Measure your blood oxygen saturation with a pulse oximeter.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Everyone will adjust at a different rate to increasing altitude. You may advance faster or slower than indicated below. If you have
dizziness, headache, or excessive fatigue, return to a previous altitude or shorten the hypoxic intervals.
